JOB PURPOSE

The Operations Manager exercises responsibility for the overall administration and efficient daily operation of the assigned Energy Services branch in accordance with R. H. Foster’s goals, objectives, and strategic plans.

Sustain and Grow Operations

  • Responsible for the leadership, administration, and efficient daily operations of dispatch, delivery and office personnel to include scheduling, delivery strategy and service process.
  • Reviews ongoing performance results to targets and takes corrective measures with authorization, escalates as needed.
  • Provides guidance and leadership for positive staff motivation and performance results of employees.
  • Ensures seasonal drivers and dispatch staffing levels are maintained and meeting business and financial needs.
  • Participates in daily, weekly, monthly, and annual planning process as appropriate.
  • Works to ensure effective employee relationships are maintained in areas of responsibility and between other company departments to include: other energy service offices, other business channels, and supporting departments.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position and manages manpower resources to maximize efficiency and effectiveness of delivery process.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills are required to communicate in a tactful and articulate manner with direct reports and corporate leadership.

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Operations Manager directly supervises dispatch, service personnel, drivers in the field and fuels area. The Operations Manager is also responsible for the results of operational expenses, trainings, certifications, hours of service and overall delivery performance.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Contact Management systems; Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
